Myths That Keep You Fat
Most people don’t understand the rules behind losing fat well enough, and this makes it tough for them to lose the fat they want. As an example, they might cut down sweet foods and eat “fat-free” snacks, thinking this will do the trick. It won’t!
Eating low- or no-fat foods just doesn’t work. As a matter of fact, since the idea of the low fat diet has been introduced, the obesity epidemic has gotten increasingly worse. This is no coincidence. Low fat foods often have a lot of empty calories to help make up for the taste that is lost when the fat is removed.
Another common misconception is that low calorie diets will give you the body of your dreams. Again – they won’t! Low calorie diets merely add stress to your body that forces your metabolism to slow. This makes your body do everything it can to conserve the fat it has. Does this sound like the path to having a beach body?
Of course, these myths persist because when a person first starts, some weight is lost. Shortly thereafter, the dieter hits a plateau, and that’s it for that diet. She gets discouraged and quits, and blames her willpower. That’s not the problem – the diet is the problem!
You don’t have to accept this fate and remain fat for the rest of your life though. You can get the body you’ve always wanted, as soon as you get the right information.
